REVIEW: Marvel's Chameleon

One thing you have got to admire Hasbro for, is their love for Spider-man villains in this scale. Spidey fans rejoice for the master of disguise, Chameleon!

I've always welcomed collecting Spider-man villains. With the announcement of Chameleon, I couldn't be much happier. This wasn't a surprise though for us collectors, as 2013 Wave 22's Mysterio revealed a secret head of Chameleon underneath his fishbowl!

This gave us a hint that Hasbro's working on a Chameleon figure. And we are damn right about it.

Here's the rest of the assortment for 2015 Wave 3.

2x Emma Frost, 2x Chameleon, 2x Colossus, 2x Deadpool, 2x Korg, 2x Northstar

Chameleon is a master of disguise, who uses different masks, and technology to copy the appearance and behavior of almost everyone. Up to this day, no one has ever seen the face behind his white mask. That's why I'd die to see him in a Scooby Doo episode.

Where did I acquire it?: Kramer Toy Warden
How much?: Set of 6 Php 4,200
Condition during acquisition: MOC

Packaging:

Accessories:
Norman Osborn | Chameleon | Chameleon as Spider-man
Chameleon does come with 2 extra heads for him to disguise as. I really am a sucker of interchangeable parts such as these head pieces right here.

Norman head from Chameleon | Norman Head from MU Iron Patriot Variant
First we got a Norman Osborn head, which is a repainted head of the MU Iron Patriot variant that we got years ago. Finally, no need to pounce on that expensive variant.

Chameleon head under MU Mysterio | Chameleon head from MIS
The Chameleon head is the exact same head we got from the Mysterio figure, only this time it's painted.

The third head is Chameleon disguised as Spider-man as seen on the comic cover above. Did he really fool people with that look? LOL!

Sculpt:

+ Sculpt details on the heads are spot on.
- I don't know if this is a bad thing, but gun gripping hands need guns.
- I find the suit a bit plain, perhaps a bit more fold and texture could have helped.
- Here's the disappointing part. The lower part of his suit hinders the legs' articulation!!! (see articulation section below)

Paint:

+ Splendid paint job on the heads.
- Again, paint is a bit plain to my taste. Some shading or wash might have helped bring out the sculpt of the figure.

        Articulation:
Chameleon uses an original body mold, correct me if I'm wrong though. It has those standard trimmed down articulation of the recent waves. Though, the most noticeable hindrance on this figure is that it can barely move his legs front and back due to the lower part of his suit! Here's a photo to give you an idea.
This is how far I can go
So that's it. You can either have him stand up, or give him that walk-in-the-park look. This figure could have had a decent articulation if not only for that piece.

          Playtime Pics:
Can't really think of poses with Chameleon, that's why I just decided to have fun interchanging some parts of his.
Here's what you can do with the extra heads
.. or you can recreate that scene from Avengers Age of Ultron. LOL.

          Overall Grade

I've always welcomed Spider-man villains in my collection, and Chameleon is no exception. He may not be one of those popular foes of Spidey, but believe me collectors will get this since he is more than what he is. Why you say? With this figure you instantly get 2 more heads and one of which is a Norman Osborn head which you can use for your Iron Patriot and or Green Goblin. No need to hunt for the variant Iron Patriot one. The other selling point, is it's suit. I've been seeing fellow collector interchanging this body with Stark's head, and some even contemplating on creating a Coulson with this one. I can see people buying multiples of this just to have a formal attire for their heroes.

This one might not be the best figure-wise, but the inclusion of the additional heads and that suit saves it from being a peg warmer.

          Accessories - 4.5/5

          Paint - 3/5
