TOY REVIEW: Captain America - Falcon (Shield-Wielding Heroes pack)

Here's Sam Wilson as Captain America!

As with the Lady Thor, I also didn't like the idea of having Falcon as Cap. But then I ended up reading and following the series up until now. There's just something to it the makes me want to read it more.

It was during the Marvel Now! run when Steve Rogers appointed Falcon to be the next Capt. America as he was losing the serum in his body thus giving birth to Falcon, as the All-New Captain America.

Here's the rest of the assortment for 2016 Mavel Legends Series Wave 1 - Comic Packs.

Mechanical Masters, Defenders of Asgard, Shield-Wielding Heroes

Where did I acquire it?: Sir Eric's Distribution
How much?: SRP of 1,499.75
Condition during acquisition: MOC

Packaging:
Finally the comic packs are back! I can't remember the last time they put one of these out! It's still patterned after the single pack Marvel Legends Series. Though I don't dig the name, I'm certainly digging the package design. It looks premium and made for adults. At the back you can see the rest of the comic packs, with a large artistic shot. With the return of these comic packs, I do hope we get the team boxsets as well down the road.

Shield-Wielding Heroes pack comes with the Secret Wars 001 variant comic with the inclusion of All New Captain America #1

Accessories:

Being Capt. America, of course he comes with a c-clipped shield, which also feels kinda cheap to me. I don't know if its the paint or the material itself. It feels different from the ones we usually get. I think they also missed out on including Falcon's trusted buddy Redwing.

Sculpt:

As I was toying around with this figure, the body mold kinda felt familiar to me. I was sure though that this wasn't a standard released figure from MU, MIS or MLS since the joints and feel of the figure seems different. I was about to conclude that it was a newly sculpted mold until  I was able to figure it out. It uses the same mold with a retooled torso of the Captain America Civil War figure which comes with a motorcycle! That's why the hand seems too big, since it's intended to grab the bike's handle bars.

+  Sculpted torso and belt is accurate enough.
+  Lots of sculpted details, from the reused Civil War Capt. America mold.
+  Headsculpt is on point.
- None to limited muscle and body definition. Everything seems so straight where there's supposed to be curves.
- Big hands.
- WHERE ARE HIS WINGS?!?!

Paint:

+ Genius paint application to hide the reuse of the Civil War Capt. America mold.
+ Neat paint application.
- Looks a bit flat. Could have used some wash, or color tone variation to give the figure more depth and raise the sculpted details on the figure.

Articulation:

As stated above, it reuses a Civil War Capt. America figure which I have yet to own. It has the basically the same cut-back articulation that we get from the newer figures, except that this one has a waist swivel. Head also sits on a ball jointed peg, but can't look up or down.

Overall Grade

I do welcome this version of Capt. America in my collection. As same with Lady Thor, it's a logical and great character choice to include since he's the current Cap. Though figurewise, you might wanna weigh on it more. The figure is somehow solid all around, however there are a handful of gripes that I have with this one. The reuse of the Civil War Capt. America figure is genius in a way, since you won't notice it immediately unless you have the said figure. However, that figure lacks sculpt definition. As a movie line figure, it's forgivable, however being released in the main line is a different story. Another major flaw and lapse of this figure is that HE DOESN'T HAVE WINGS! How can you have Falcon without his wings?
