REVIEW: Yondu

One of the founding members of the original Guardians of Galaxy, Yondu!

Yondu was again introduced in mainstream media to the modern casual and hardcore Marvel fans alike, through Michael Rooker's portrayal in Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It's a great modern adaptation of his classic look which we have in this figure.

Merle as Yondu, LOL.
Here's the rest of the assortment for 2016 Mavel Legends Series Wave 1.

x1 Black Panther, x1 Capt. Marvel, x1 Yondu, x1 Spider-man, x1 Iron Man, x1 Spider-man Noir, x1 Triton, x1 Ulik

This figure clearly shouts "classic" with its vibrant blue and red color with a gold accent. I must admit, I do dig this cheesy look of him.

Where did I acquire it?: Kramer Toy Warden
How much?: Set of 5 Php 3,500
Condition during acquisition: MOC

Packaging:
I definitely love the new packaging! The old one from the infinite series looks so generic and dull. Glad to have the individual character's art on each of the card back giving it more personality! Loving the artistic photo of the figure at the back as well.

Accessories:
Finally, some accessories! Yondu comes with a bow, arrow and quiver of Hawkeye repainted as yellowish gold. It does fit him well quite, being a hunter/archer himself. Bow does fit his hands firmly, so as the arrow.

Sculpt:

+ Great headsculpt.
+ Hair doesn't hinder head movement.
+ Sculpted details are on point from his comic book counterpart.

Paint:

+ Great blue and red tone plus the gold!
+ Painted star logo on his chest is neat.
+ Clean painted stripes on his arm.
+ Decent paint app on his face.

Articulation:

It uses the standard male body mold from the Infinite Series, however with a MU legs from Classic Hawkeye as you can tell from the calf swivel. Articulation is decent enough, however as with any MU figures, it looks awkward posing them shooting with a bow and arrow.

    Size Comparison:
MU Star Lord | MLS Yondu | MU Drax (switched legs)
MU Gladiator | MLS Yondu | MU Hawkeye

    Overall Grade

I really like it when Hasbro releases obscure characters from Marvel's vast roster. I'd consider Yondu to be part of that group even though he did appear in the GOTG movie. The classic look definitely works for me! The inclusion of the Hawkeye's accessory is great way of reusing existing parts.

Yondu isn't really essential in one's collection since he doesn't really have a prominent part in the current Marvel universe. However, figure wise I find him to be the dark horse in this wave. A solid great figure indeed.
