REVIEW: Marvel's Triton

A great addition to the Inhumans boxset, Triton!

Haven't read anything from the Inhumans universe, though I know Marvel has been pushing them to be the next "mutants" as an indirect attack to the whole Marvel-Fox dispute. Not really familiar to Triton's story, I just recognized him since I know I had a toy of him when I was a kid during the 90's. This figure still looks like him after 2 decades. Though I believe, Triton has a new look, in the All-New All-Different arc, so I guess it's safe to say that this is his classic look.

Triton's new look

Here's the rest of the assortment for 2016 Mavel Legends Series Wave 1.

x1 Black Panther, x1 Capt. Marvel, x1 Yondu, x1 Spider-man, x1 Iron Man, x1 Spider-man Noir, x1 Triton, x1 Ulik

I guess Hasbro's really amping up the Inhumans to be known to casual followers of Marvel. I believe a movie of Inhumans is planned as well for the MCU.

Where did I acquire it?: Kramer Toy Warden
How much?: Set of 5 Php 3, 500
Condition during acquisition: MOC

Packaging:
I definitely love the new packaging! The old one from the infinite series looks so generic and dull. Glad to have the individual character's art on each of the card back giving it more personality! Loving the artistic photo of the figure at the back as well.

Sculpt:

+ Decent face sculpt. Fin on his head is sculpted well.
No sculpted scales on skin.
Some painted parts could have been sculpted.
Looks too plain. Could have added more details to the character sculpt wise.

Paint:

+ Decent color tone. Kinda' looks like a reversed Barney.
Painted eyebrows looks distracting.
- Again, looks flat and boring. Could have added some shading or wash paint to it.

Articulation:

It uses the standard male body mold from the Infinite Series. Which means it lacks torso and wrist articulation.

    Overall Grade
Triton is one of those figures that you get if you just want to add to a team. As a stand alone figure, I don't see why you'd get this. But if you do have an Inhumans boxset, it's a great addition to the royal family.

The figure in general just looks too plain. A little modification could have done the figure a bit of improvement. Wish they could have just reused some parts from Green Goblin or Capt. America to give it a scaled texture. A trident accessory would have been nice as well. I honestly do think this figure would probably end up warming the pegs.
