REVIEW: Ulik

A rock troll, ready to give Thor a heavy beating! Here's Ulik!
Ulik seems like the Korg of this wave. I can see them sharing the same fate as Korg, warming the pegs perhaps? Though I hope I'm wrong. A great addition to a limited Thor villains that we have in the line so far. Though, in fairness to this figure, it's literally the heaviest! Probably the most bang for the buck in terms of money to plastic ratio. LOL!

Here's the rest of the assortment for 2016 Mavel Legends Series Wave 1.

x1 Black Panther, x1 Capt. Marvel, x1 Yondu, x1 Spider-man, x1 Iron Man, x1 Spider-man Noir, x1 Triton, x1 Ulik

Where did I acquire it?: Kramer Toy Warden
How much?: Set of 5 Php 3, 250
Condition during acquisition: MOC

Packaging:

I definitely love the new packaging! The old one from the infinite series looks so generic and dull. Glad to have the individual character's art on each of the card back giving it more personality! Loving the artistic photo of the figure at the back as well.

Sculpt:

+ Great head and facial sculpt!
+ Nicely sculpted "strap" piece
+ Those brass knuckles!
- Not sure if the Abomination mold fits him, since he has those "warts"
- There's something wrong with the head to body proportion. His neck looks longer instead of giving him a hunched look.

Paint:
Painted briefs. LOL!
+ Decent face paint application.
+ Nice green and silver tone.
- Not digging the dark painted parts. Looks like burnt meat to me. I suppose those were made to look like hair but it just doesn't work.

Articulation:
It uses the Abomination/ Rhino mold, which includes tons of articulation from head to toe. Definitely poseable in lots of ways!

    Overall Grade

Hasbro gives us another big boy in Ulik, which is a good addition non the less. Figure wise, it's solid to say the least both literally and figuratively. However, there's something in it that makes me feel like cheated on. The reuse of parts probably could have been done better? Also, the dark paint ruins the figure for me. Wish they could have just sculpted the "hairy" parts on him. But again that's just me, I see some collectors may approve of this figure.

    Accessories - n/a
    Sculpt - 3.5/5
    Paint - 2/5
    Articulation - 5/5
    Value - 2/5
    Final Grade - 3/5
